JSW Infrastructure Limited (the Company) has receiveda Letter of Award from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority for thereconstruction of Berth 8 and mechanization of Berths 7 and 8 at Netaji SubhasDock, Kolkata. The project, awarded on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, andTransfer (DBFOT) basis under the PPP model, is aimed at enhancing containerhandling capacity at the port. The project comes with a 30-year concessionperiod.
With an estimated capex of INR740-crore and aconstruction timeline of two years, the Company will also be able to commenceoperations during the construction phase, leveraging Kolkata City’s steadycargo volumes. Post-completion, the project is expected to significantlyenhance both capacity and operational efficiency.
With this addition, the Company strengthens itscontainer operations across both eastern and western coasts. On the west coast,JSW Infrastructure operates the New Mangalore Container Terminal with a currentcapacity of 0.2 million TEUs, which is being expanded to 0.35 million TEUs. TheKolkata project brings the Company’s total container handling capacity close to1.0 million TEUs, positioning it as an emerging player in India’s portcontainer sector.
