Metso invests in scrubber pilot plant to develop new gas cleaning processes
Metso hasinstalled a fully automated multi-purpose scrubber pilot plant at itsR&D centre in Frankfurt, Germany. The new plant will be used for developingand optimizing gas cleaning processes. The first focus will be on thedevelopment of simultaneous scrubbing of SO2 and NOx atlow temperatures.
“This investmentwill put Metso at the forefront of innovation in the field of emissionreduction and allow us to optimize commercial-scale gas cleaning plants. Thetest facility supports the increasing customer demand for solutions to removeNOx at low temperatures in the presence of SO2,” notes LeifSkilling, Director, PG Gas Cleaning at Metso.
The pilot plantfeatures modern online sensors for the measurement of an extensive set of gasand liquid properties. The process control system will allow the development ofreliable process models for designing industrial-sized plants and will supportfurther process optimization and advanced digitalization solutions.
