Epiroc introduces new model tosuccessful V Cutter range.
The Epiroc Group has announced thelaunch of the new VC 3000, a model that contains all the remarkable benefits ofthe entire V Cutter range. It is a seemingly simple solution with anextraordinary effectiveness – enabling energy savings of up to 40 per cent.
“The efficiency issues connected withtrenching have been met with advanced, but expensive solutions. We’re pleasedto present an alternative that will save time and money in virtually everyaspect, from investment to energy and wear on the carrier. And, it’s allachieved by the angles of the drum,” says Gordon Hambach, Head of StrategicMarketing for Hydraulic Attachment Tools at Epiroc.
The reliability, robustness, and easeof use of the Epiroc drum cutters have been taken to a new level with the VCrange. Thanks to the V-shaped design that enables a cut with a flat base, nomaterial is left untouched between the drums. Where a regular drum cutter mustmove side to side to create an even trench, an approach that causes extra wearon the carrier arm, the VC Cutters can reach the same result by just goingstraight.
It basically works like a bucket, whichmakes it easier to use, friendlier for the carrier and a lot less energy andtime consuming. Taking the reduced downtime and maintenance into account makesthe calculation even more attractive.
The distinguishing features of theclassic Epiroc drum cutters, like the robust spur gears, adoptable high torquegear motor, and the QuickSnap retaining system for fast and easy pick changing,are all to be found in the new VC 3000. It even comes with the Pro bracket thatleads all hydraulic hoses through the centre of the extension arm and out ofharm’s way, as standard.
Mechanical and hydraulic rotatablebrackets are also available as well as dust preventing water spraying system.HATCON ™, a monitoring system that keeps track of operating hours, location,and service intervals and presents that data on virtually any screen viaMyEpiroc is another option that will increase the overall effectiveness.
VC 3000 comes with a service weight of3,200 kg (7,000 lbs) and is suitable for excavators of 35 to 55 tonnes(77,000-121,000 lbs). As standard, VC cutters are equipped with Epiroc´s uniqueHexagon Picks, a new range of picks with hexagonal bodies for all types of drumcutting equipment.
The hexagonal shape may sound like asimple modification but, in fact, it is an ingenious industry first that willmake daily maintenance easier, faster, and less costly. The secret is thatunsticking or replacement of the HexPicks can be done quickly and easily with ahexagon wrench.
Epiroc reports that HexPicks are alsomore durable and will last up to 20 per cent longer than all competingproducts.
