JCB joins the battle against Coronavirus in India

New Delhi, 3rd April,2020:

JCB India Ltd, the country’s leading manufacturer ofEarthmoving and Construction Equipment, has partnered with Asian Institute ofMedical Sciences, Faridabad to support the fight against COVID-19. This projectwill be partially funded through JCB India’s CSR initiative. The company hasmade a commitment to fund PPEs, medicines, testing kits, security suits andconsumables for doctors and healthcare workers. This will jointly enhance thepreparedness for comprehensive support to affected patients in Faridabad andsurrounding areas during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mr. Subir Kumar Chowdhury,Managing Director and CEO of JCB India said “We haveinitiated a multipronged prevention, mitigation and ongoing support strategywith Asian Institute of Medical Sciences to deal with COVID-19 relatedpatients. This is in line with keeping with our company value of supporting andenhancing the communities in which we operate in. We are certain that thispartnership will provide the requisite assistance to the people of Faridabad,where our India headquarters is located. We are actively assessing similarinitiatives in areas where our other factories are located.”    

Earlier in theCOVID-19 crisis, through its CSR initiatives, JCB India also commenced asignificant ongoing response programme for distribution of food and essentialsupplies in communities where the company operates in.

 

Global Outreach

In UK, JCB’s £50 million Cab Systemsfactory in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire is being mobilised to make special steelhousings for a brand new design of ventilator from Dyson. A minimum of 10,000of the JCB housings are earmarked for manufacture once Dyson receivesregulatory approval for its design. The first prototypes of the housings havebeen delivered to Dyson after rolling off the production line. The project hasgone from design to production in a matter of days and is a testament to theagility and skills of talented engineering, design and fabrication teams thathave come on board very quickly at a time of national crisis.

Theseinitiatives cover 15,500 students, providing them with quality education andover 2,000 Artisans and Women’s groups with market access and production efficiencies.It supports over 50 panchayats with accessing quality projects on ground.

 

JCBIndia has also established two pioneering and innovating CSR projects – NilaHouse, a center of excellence for craft in Jaipur and an annual prize forLiterature, celebrating distinguished works of fiction by Indian writers – theJCB prize for Literature.
