Positive growth overall, except Buses
The industry produced a total 23,890,166 vehicles including Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers and Quadricycle in April-January 2018 as against 21,104,750 in April-January 2017, registering a growth of 13.20 per cent over the same period last year. The overall Commercial Vehicles segment grew by 17.88 per cent in April-January 2018 as compared to the same period last year. Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) increased by 10.45 per cent and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 23.17 per cent in April-January 2018 over the same period last year.
On the Exports front, in April-January 2018, overall automobile exports increased by 14.80 per cent. However, Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 15.28 per cent in April-January 2018 over the same period last year.
